Hana Mendel is interested in stories and the visuals that accompany them. She graduated in 2018 with a bachelor of fine arts degree in photography summa cum laude from the Columbus College of Art and Design. Currently, she works as a photographic illustrator in New York City.
Influenced by Jewish folklore, her art is characterized by stylized surrealism. Her narrative images have been featured in several publications, including The New Yorker, New York, GQ, Wired, Fast Company, and the Wall Street Journal. Her recent work for the New Yorker’s online Flash Fiction series established her desire to pursue a career in the publishing arts, and she is currently attending the Columbia Publishing Course, 2022.
